The PTE exam is a computer based English language test which helps migrants and international students in non-native English speaking countries to gain the required English proficiency required to study or work overseas. It tests individuals on four components, including Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
Unlike the IELTS exam, all four components of the PTE exam are tested on the same day. Generally, two of the skills are tested together, for eg: Reading and Writing, or Listening and Speaking. The test takes approximately three hours to complete and requires the individual to complete the exam using a computer. The speaking component of the exam is also taken at the computer, where your responses and answers to the questions are recorded and sent to the examiner to be marked.
One of the main advantages of the PTE exam is that results can be obtained within 5 days of taking the exam. The approximate cost of the exam may vary for different countries but is generally between $150 - $210.
