Latest State Migration Program Updates for September 2022

** Subclass 491: Category 3A - Overseas Applicant (TSOL) is now 'BY INVITATION ONLY' ** New nomination requirements are also available on the TAS Government website.
They further advise that approximately 40% of skilled visa nomination places have been used.
The Tasmanian Nominated Skilled Migration Program now has only very limited subclass 491 nomination places remaining. Tasmania will not close to new applications.
For the 2020-2021 program year, Tasmania will continue to accept applications for subclass 491 nominations until 11 June 2021 but cannot guarantee that all applications will be considered.
The State Nomination Program is then expected to recommence with a full quota in July 2021.

The Northern Territory Migration program is currently only open to onshore applicants currently living in the NT.
Student visa holders who have not completed their studies will not be considered for nomination.

From February 2021 the NSW Government started accepting applications for:
  • All Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) streams.
  • The Business Talent (Permanent) visa (subclass 132) Significant Business History stream
  • The skilled migration applications for 491 & 190 visas

The Victorian State Government has a set timetable for submission windows and when invitations will be issued.
They are giving invitations for skilled occupation in health, medical research, life sciences, agri-food or digital sectors which supports Victoria's economic recovery or health response.
They are currently accepting onshore applications.

INVITATION ROUND: 19 MARCH 2021
Matrix nominating Critical Skill Occupations:
  • 190 nomination: 39 invitations
  • 491 nomination: 23 Invitations

The minimum ranking score is an indication only and not a guarantee that an invitation was issued. Ranking may depend on date and time of Matrix submission.

State Nominated Migration Program opening soon
4 January 2021
Invitations to apply for the State Nominated Migration Program will resume in January 2021. The Western Australian State nomination criteria have been revised inline with State health and economic recovery prioirties. The changes to the criteria are as follows.
  • Intending applicants must be currently residing in Australia to be invited and nominated.
  • Intending applications subject to a section 48 bar, are not eligible for State nomination.
  • If you are applying through the Graduate stream and due to COVID-19 you completed some of your Western Australian studies online (either onshore or offshore), you are now able to use this study toward the Western Australian study requirement

The South Australian program remains closed, with no set date for reopening.
