The Australian Financial Review was shown the elderly care labor agreement at Curtin Heritage in Perth, which calls for the hiring of 570 people over a five-year period. It is the first phase in what has been referred to as a grand bargain with unions to allow the fast-tracking of low-paid foreign employees into the country to alleviate labor shortages in the aged care industry. The foreign employees were brought in in accordance with immigration laws supported by the Albanese government to meet staffing shortages in the aged care industry.
