Publish Date: 01/07/2024

Sydney, Australia - July 1, 2024 – Prime Minister Albanese has announced significant enhancements to business visitation arrangements for citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and Timor-Leste.

Effective April 1, 2024, the business visitor visa duration has been extended from up to 3 years to up to 5 years for applications lodged after this date.

This extension was unveiled during the 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in March, highlighting Australia's commitment to expanding business opportunities.

Under the updated Visitor (subclass 600) visa rules, business visitors can stay in Australia for up to 3 months per visit, with multiple entries permitted over the extended visa period.

Later this year, Australia plans to further extend the 10-year visitor visa Frequent Traveller stream to ASEAN states and Timor-Leste, facilitating easier and more frequent travel for eligible individuals.
