British Columbia Almost Reaches Limit for Skilled Worker Invitations in First 2025 Draw

Publish Date: 12/05/2025

British Columbia has held its first immigration draw of 2025 for skilled workers, inviting 94 candidates who are likely to make a strong contribution to the province’s economy.

Before this, the B.C. Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has only held draws this year for entrepreneurs.

In this draw, candidates were selected if they met one of these two conditions:

  • They earn at least $105 per hour and are working in a skilled job (TEER 0 level) with their current employer in B.C.
  • They scored 150 points or more on the BC PNP’s point system.

The 94 invitations were split evenly between these two groups.

Earlier, B.C. announced that it would only invite around 100 skilled workers this year through its high economic stream, due to a lower number of spots provided by the federal government. With this draw, the province is close to hitting that limit.

The BC PNP also said that future draws may look at other factors such as:

  • Your education and where you studied,
  • Your job experience and skills,
  • Your language ability,
  • Whether your job is in demand in B.C.,
  • And your plans to live and work in a certain area of the province.
