Germany Cuts Long-term Visa Processing Time For Indian Skilled Workers To Two Weeks

Publish Date: 23/08/2024

In a major policy shift, the German government has significantly reduced the processing time for long-term visas for Indian skilled workers, cutting the wait from nine months to just two weeks.

This expedited process, confirmed by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, is part of a broader effort to address Germany's labor shortages.

The change aims to accelerate visa issuance for Indian professionals participating in training programs, conferences, and investments in Germany.

Baerbock highlighted that the Federal Agency for Foreign Affairs, already the largest visa office globally for national visas, is at the forefront of this initiative. The move is expected to benefit around 400,000 individuals who have been facing extended delays in obtaining national visas.
