Publish Date:

The Western Australian Government has announced new regulations for the
registration of building engineers, set to be effective from July 1, 2024.
Building engineers, technologists, and associates are required to obtain
registration with the Building Services Board to engage in building engineering work within
the state.
Engineers Australia's WA General Manager, Susan Kreemer Pickford, welcomes
this registration requirement, stating it will enhance engineering quality and consumer
confidence in Western Australia.
The registration process will occur in two stages:
Registration of structural and fire safety building engineers begins on
July 1, 2024.
Registration of civil and mechanical building engineers starts on July
1, 2025
Engineers will be granted a two-year transition period for each stage,
allowing them to continue working without registration during this period.
