Newfoundland and Labrador Launches New EOI System with First Invitations; New Brunswick Holds Targeted Draws

Publish Date: 13/04/2025

Newfoundland and Labrador has officially issued its first round of invitations through its newly implemented Expression of Interest (EOI) system, marking a significant shift in how the province selects candidates for immigration.

The new online system, launched in February 2025, is designed to streamline immigration processing and better match candidates with Newfoundland and Labrador’s labour market needs.

Newfoundland and Labrador: First-Ever EOI Invitations Issued

On April 8, the province invited 256 candidates to apply through two programs:

Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

256

Invitations were prioritized for foreign nationals with full-time job offers in in-demand occupations, particularly those:

  • Residing in Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • With offers in rural or remote communities; and
  • Graduating from local post-secondary institutions.

The new EOI system requires candidates to first submit a profile online. Only those selected by the province will be invited to apply for provincial nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP).

New Brunswick: Multiple Draws Target Key Sectors

Meanwhile, New Brunswick conducted several provincial immigration draws between April 6 and April 12, focusing on candidates with experience in high-demand fields.

Between April 7 and 8, a total of 432 invitations were issued under the following streams:

  • NB Skilled Worker Stream – New Brunswick Experience
  • NB Skilled Worker Stream – New Brunswick Graduates

Targeted occupations included:

  • Construction Trades
  • Education and Social & Community Services
  • Healthcare

In addition, candidates with work permits expiring in 2025 were prioritized if employed in:

  • Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Forestry
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Manufacturing
  • Professional Occupations (NOC 1000- and 2000-levels, TEER 0, 1, and 2)
  • Transportation

On April 9, New Brunswick issued 45 invitations under the NB Express Entry Stream – Employment in New Brunswick. To qualify, candidates needed at least 12 months of full-time work with a local employer.

This draw also focused on the same key sectors: Construction, Education, Community Services, and Healthcare.
