NSW Announces Priority Sectors for 2024-25 Skilled Migration Program

Publish Date: 10/10/2024

The NSW Government has unveiled its priority sectors for the 2024-25 skilled migration program, aiming to address persistent skills shortages and support industries undergoing significant changes.

Key sectors include construction (infrastructure and housing), renewables (net zero and clean energy), the care economy (aged care, disability services, and early childhood education), digital and cyber, education (teachers), agriculture and agrifood, and advanced manufacturing.

NSW has also released updated skills lists for both the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491). Applicants must confirm their occupation’s eligibility before obtaining a skills assessment.

Invitation rounds for the subclass 190 visa will begin soon, with regular rounds expected until the allocation is filled. The subclass 491 visa has new pathways, including a regional graduate pathway and a 10% TSMIT concession for certain occupations.

Applicants are encouraged to keep their Skill Select Expression of Interest (EOI) up to date and ensure all claims are backed by valid supporting evidence. Additionally, the application fee has increased to A$315 for the 2024-25 program year.
