Two Key Updates from the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

1. PTE Core Now Accepted as Language Proficiency Test

As of April 1, 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has officially added the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Core to its list of accepted English language proficiency tests. This update applies to all AAIP streams and is effective for applications submitted on or after April 1.

The inclusion of the PTE Core provides applicants with greater flexibility and choice when meeting language requirements, alongside the currently accepted English tests such as IELTS and CELPIP. AAIP has announced that additional stream-specific details will be released in the coming weeks to guide applicants further.

2. New Application Fee for Worker Streams Introduced

Also effective April 1, 2025, the application fee for all AAIP worker streams has increased to CAD 1,500. This change reflects an effort to better align application fees with the actual costs of service delivery and program administration.

It’s important to note that this fee adjustment only applies to worker stream applications. All other AAIP service fees remain unchanged at this time.
