Immigration New Zealand's Achievements in 2023

Immigration New Zealand has introduced new visas by observing the unprecedented demand for visitor visas:

1. 1. Recovery Visa to support the country’s clean up after the devastating Cyclone Gabrielle, and the
2. 2. Skilled Migrant Category to support our country’s workforce.

Key Statistics 2023:

• The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) policy saw 15,749 employers gaining accreditation.
• Approximately 2.2 million manual identity comparisons were successfully executed.
• Nearly 2,000 post-accreditation checks for AEWV were completed.
• Over 79,000 AEWV applications were submitted, and 88% were granted approval.
• The New Zealand border experienced more than 11.5 million movements.
• A total of nearly three million emails were sent through over 150 mass emails to clients and stakeholders, complemented by five international marketing campaigns reaching 38 countries.
• In excess of 519,400 visitor visa applications were submitted, with an 81% approval rate.
• More than 1.4 million NZeTA applications were received, and an impressive 99.89% were approved.
• A total of 46,703 working holiday applications were submitted, with an impressive 95% approval rate. Additionally, 2,344 working holiday extension applications were approved.
• 99% of 2021 Resident Visa applications were adjudicated, surpassing the 80% processing goal three months ahead of schedule.
• More than 18,400 Recognised Seasonal Employer applications were sanctioned.
• A total of 1,507 Quota refugees found resettlement in New Zealand.
• The Refugee Family Support Category welcomed 567 individuals, and the Community Organisation Refugee Sponsorship pilot facilitated the resettlement of 33 refugees.
