The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has expanded its list of accepted language tests for Canada PR applications to include the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Core. This recent development, effective from 30th January, opens up new opportunities for applicants, with PTE Core being recognized across various immigration programs.

PTE Core Overview:

PTE Core is a computer-based English proficiency test comprising four modules: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. What sets it apart is its unique scoring system, where both humans and AI assess the test to reduce bias. The test is conducted in three parts, and the results are made available in less than 48 hours, making it a convenient option for applicants.

Scoring and Conversion:

PTE Core scores range from 0 to 90, with 90 being the highest score. To align with Canada's language proficiency requirements, these scores are converted into Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels. For Canada PR eligibility, a minimum score equivalent to CLB 7 is required. This translates to achieving scores in the range of 60-68 for reading, 69-78 for writing, 60-70 for listening, and 68-75 for speaking.

Preparing for the PTE Core is crucial for success. Here are some tips to help you achieve the desired scores:
