Canada Introduces New Guidelines for International Students Transferring Schools in Winter/Spring 2025

Canada has announced updated guidelines for international students transferring to a new Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in winter or spring 2025. Under the new policy, students can begin studying at their new DLI before receiving a new study permit, provided they meet specific requirements.

Conditions for Transferring to a New DLI Before Receiving a New Study Permit:

1. Acceptance by the New DLI: Students must have been accepted for the new DLI intake for the winter/spring 2025 semester.
2. Application for Study Permit Extension: Students must have applied to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for a study permit extension.
3. Valid Study Permit: Students must hold a valid study permit that does not have the name of the new DLI printed on it.
4. Compliance with Study Permit Conditions: Students must continue to meet all the conditions of their existing study permit.
