Nsw Skilled Migration Update

Publish Date: 27/09/2023

  1. Shift in Focus: NSW is shifting from specific skilled occupation lists (ANZSCO units) and adopting a sector-focused approach to address evolving skills shortages.
  2. Priority Sectors: The identified priority sectors include Health, Education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Infrastructure, and Agriculture.
  3. Non-Priority Sectors: While the focus is on key sectors, high-ranking EOIs from non-priority sectors may still be considered, but limited places are available.
  4. Invitation rounds will continue throughout the year, with no publicly announced dates. Selection factors include points score, English proficiency, and work experience, prioritizing NSW Priority Sectors.
  5. The NSW Government has sole discretion in issuing invitations for nomination.
  6. The date of submitting or amending your SkillSelect EOI does not affect your invitation likelihood.
  7. Invitation rounds for the subclass 190 visa are set to begin next week.
  8. NSW emphasizes regional development, offering a program to attract skilled talent to regional areas. Details on the program reopening will be provided after finalizing applications from the previous financial year.
