Vetassess Updates Skills Assessment Criteria For Mathematicians

VETASSESS revised its skills assessment criteria for the ANZSCO occupation of Mathematician after consultations with the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI). The occupation category now includes Quantitative Analysts, Computational Scientists, and Operations Research Analysts, reflecting the diverse applications of mathematical sciences.

AMSI endorsed the updated criteria earlier this year. Most roles are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra. Professor Tim Marchant, Director of AMSI, noted the high demand for mathematical scientists, leading to competitive salaries. Quantitative analysts are employed in the financial sector, while data scientists are sought after in various corporate and government agencies.
