101 - Child Visa (Offshore)

The Child 101 (Offshore) visa, allows children of permanent residents and citizens of Australia, living overseas to come to Australia to live with their parent/s. This is a permanent residence visa and allows the child to remain in Australia indefinitely.

Processing times

• 75% of applications: 11 months
• 90% of applications: 15 months

Location: The child must be outside the country when the visa application is lodged and when a decision is made on the outcome of the visa./p>

Eligibility requirements

The child must:

• have a parent or step-parent who is an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
• Be 18 years of age or a full-time student aged 18 to 25 and financially dependent on the parent, or over 18 and unable to work due to a disability
• Be single (un-married)
• Be a dependent of the parent/s - The child could be biological, adopted, or a stepchild. *Adopted children need to have been adopted before they turned 18 years of age.
• The child must be sponsored by their parent or the parent's spouse or de facto partner.
• Meet minimum health and character requirements as required by Australian immigration laws
• Any debts to the Australian government by the child or any member of the family need to be paid back before the visa could be granted.
• The child needs to have legal consent by their legal guardian/s in written form, granting consent for the child to leave their home country to live with their parent/s who are citizens or permanent residents of Australia
