Ontario Announces Three New Immigration Draws for International Students, Foreign Workers, and In-Demand Occupations

Toronto, September 10th, 2024 – Ontario has released three new draws under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) focusing on candidates eligible under the International Student Stream, Foreign Worker Stream, and Ontario In-demand Skills Stream.

International Student Stream

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Completed education from an eligible college or university situated in Ontario within the last two years.
• Have a valid job offer from an employer in Ontario who is a member of Ontario’s trade union.

Ontario In-Demand Skills Stream

This stream focuses on candidates with the following qualifications:

• Nine months’ paid work experience gained with a qualifying employer that is outside of the GTA.
• There is a provision for employer-sponsored candidates for this stream and this is compulsory.

Foreign Worker Stream

Applicants are required to meet one of the following:

• Two years of experience in the work related to their stream.
• Driver license or any valid license from any related authority if required by the job.
• The sponsorship of the employer is also mandatory for this program.

Employer Eligibility Requirements for all three streams:

1. For employers inside the GTA: A criterion of Net annual turnover of over $1 Million and at least 5 employees must be Canadian citizens or possess Canadian permanent residency.
2. For employers outside the GTA: of $500 000 and at least three employees who meet the Canadian citizenship or permanent resident requirement.

These new draws give eligible candidates the chance to immigrate to Ontario where they can help the province’s economy grow and meet its labour requirements.
