The UK Government has announced that from April 4, 2024, the salary threshold for new applicants under the Skilled Worker route will increase to £38,700 per year from £26,200.
Health and Care visa applicants are exempted from the salary threshold increase. The existing Skilled Worker route individuals are not affected by the salary threshold increase if they change sponsors, extend visas, or settle.
On the other hand, the immigration health charge rate has risen to £1,035 per year from £624, effective February 6, 2024, with discounted rates for students and minors.
For spouse/partner visas, the minimum income will increase to £29,000 on April 11, 2024, then to around £34,500 later in 2024, and finally to approximately £38,700. The minimum income increase also applies to foreign members of the armed forces sponsoring a spouse/partner visa.
The family visa applicants within a five-year partner route or those applying before the threshold increase will be reviewed against the current income requirement.
Initial changes to the shortage occupation list are anticipated in April 2024, and starting March 11, 2024, newly arriving care workers cannot bring immediate family members to the UK.
