Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now accepting applications from communities for two new immigration programs: the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot.
These programs will start onboarding and training selected communities this fall. They aim to support Canada's long-term growth and preserve linguistic diversity.
Through the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RNIP), IRCC will handle up to 5,500 permanent resident applications each year. They will choose up to 15 communities based on their economic needs, available services for newcomers, and the ability of local organizations to work with IRCC.
The selected communities will be announced in the coming months, and onboarding and training will start this fall. Interested organizations must apply by filling out IRCC's questionnaire by July 2, 2024.
July 31, 2024: Last day for communities to recommend interested candidates.
August 31, 2024: Last day for candidates to apply for permanent residence.
